Golden Gate Canyon State Park: Reverends Ridge Campground

Reverend's Ridge Campground Map & Parking

Golden Gate Canyon State Park is 30 miles and about an one hour drive from downtown Denver, Colorado. The following map shows our camp site location (fire pit icon) and the campground registration office (hut with flag icon). Zooming out and switching to map mode will help you get directions. We came from Denver taking Golden Gate Canyon Road west and then took the steep, twisty, and beautiful Mountain Base Road to the campground office.

Reverend's Ridge Campground

The Reverend's Ridge campground is at the far northwest side of Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Not too far way lies Panorama Point which provides spectacular views (see map and then pictures below). The Reverend's Ridge campground is an amazing place to camp because the atmosphere is relaxing, the camp sites and camp site office are first class, and there are an abundance of nearby trails (more on these in the future).

Fire Pit and Picnic Table

Each tent camping site comes with a fire pit and picnic table. Firewood can be purchased from the campground registration office located less than 1/2 mile away. We were camping on site #94. We did not experience any mosquitoes and thoroughly enjoyed watching the sun set through the trees.
Tent Area

As you can see in the following picture, the camp site easily holds two two-person tents. In addition, campground facilities include flush toilets, showers, free drinking water spout, trash dumpsters, recycling dumpsters, and laundry. However, our local bathroom did not include hand soap so be sure to bring some camping soap.
Panorama Point View to the North

If you have made it to the Reverends Ridge campground then it is really easy to visit Panorama Point (see trail map above). The Panorama Point view to the north includes but is not limited to Barker Dam, Longs Peak, Mt. Meeker, Battle Mountain, Estes Cone, Twin Sisters, Mt. Albion, and Mt. Toll.
Panorama Point View to the West

The Panorama Point view to the west includes but is not limited to Rosalie Peak, Epaulet Mountain, Mt. Evans, Black Hawk, Mt. Spalding, Gray Wolf Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, and Paines Mountain.
